Gate Repair

A gate should open, close, and stay that way.

Dragging gates, stubborn latches, loose hinges, and damaged openings. We work on the gate and the parts supporting it, not just the symptom.

Gate Repair with DJ Fence & Gate

Let’s get your entrance working again.

When a gate stops working, the inconvenience shows up every time you use it. You may be lifting it to latch, pushing it across the ground, or leaving it open because it has become too much trouble.

We inspect the gate, supporting posts, hinges, latch, and opening together. For an automated entrance, we also need to understand the operator and access equipment. A gate that has shifted and an operator that has stopped responding should not be treated as the same repair.

We handle residential walk gates, driveway gates, and commercial entrances. Tell us whether the gate can still be used, what has changed, and whether it is the only access point. We’ll use that information to discuss the next step without promising a repair before we have assessed it.

The details that matter

What we can help with.

01

Sagging & dragging

Evaluate the gate frame, supports, and clearances to understand why the gate no longer travels as it should.

02

Latches & hinges

Inspect worn, damaged, or misaligned hardware and discuss suitable replacements for the way the opening is used.

03

Damaged gate sections

Review bent frames, missing infill, and impact damage alongside the condition of adjoining fence sections.

04

Automated entrances

Discuss operator, control, and access issues as part of a complete system assessment. Do not bypass a safety device to keep a gate moving.

Compare the details

Explore styles and configurations.

Start with the look you like, then compare privacy, access, care and the needs of your property.

A closer look

A gate is more than the panel.

Choose the motion before the finish

A swing gate needs room for the entire leaf to travel. A sliding gate needs a suitable path beside the opening; tracked and cantilever arrangements have different support and clearance needs. Measure the usable opening and the space around it, not just the gap between two posts.

For a driveway, show the approach, nearby parking and the vehicles that regularly use it. For a walk gate, include the path, steps, bins and mower access. The most attractive gate is not the right choice if it makes routine access difficult.

Build the opening as a complete assembly

The leaf, frame, posts, hinges, latches and adjoining fence affect one another. A gate that drags may have a support problem rather than a latch problem. For replacement work, we assess what can stay before specifying a new leaf.

Wood, vinyl and open metal gates place different demands on the assembly. Wide and paired openings need their own details. Include finish, hardware, hold-open arrangements and the direction of travel in the agreed scope.

Plan automation and access together

Automation adds an operator, controls, power arrangements and safety considerations. Tell us who needs access: residents, staff, visitors, deliveries or service teams. Keypads, remotes, readers and intercoms serve different needs and must be compatible with the selected system.

Discuss power availability, backup operation, manual release and work by other trades before installation. An existing manual gate is not automatically ready for an operator. Never bypass a safety device or keep cycling a gate that appears unsafe.

Know what is included after installation

At handover, review normal operation, how to secure the opening and the care information supplied for the equipment. Keep the operator and control documentation where the property manager or owner can find it. Access credentials should not be sent through a public estimate form.

New gates have a two-year complimentary adjustment provision under the written warranty. That is not an unlimited warranty on materials or operators. Residential, repair and commercial workmanship classifications have different terms; confirm which applies to the agreed project.

A clear way forward

From your first question to a defined scope.

  1. Identify the opening

Is it a backyard walk gate, a pool gate, a driveway entrance, or a commercial vehicle opening?

  2. Describe the behavior

Tell us whether the gate drags, will not latch, stops partway, or does not respond. Avoid repeated use if its operation appears unsafe.

  3. Share system details

For an automatic gate, send the manufacturer and model if you can read them safely, plus any visible error indication.

  4. Review repair or replacement

Sometimes hardware is the issue. Sometimes the frame or supporting posts need more work. We’ll discuss that before finalizing a scope.

We stand behind our work

A repair warranty that fits the work.

Repairs and work involving existing fences generally carry one year of workmanship coverage, unless otherwise stated in writing. Existing components are not covered.

Before we get started

A few good questions.

Can you fix a gate without replacing the fence?

Often we can assess the gate as a separate project. The condition of its supporting posts and adjoining fence will help determine the appropriate scope.

Do you repair automatic gates?

Yes. We handle automated gate and access-control inquiries. Include the equipment details and the symptoms so we can discuss the system.

Can you look at a pool gate?

Yes. Tell us it is part of a pool barrier when you contact us. Keep the pool access secured and do not rely on a gate that is not closing or latching properly.

What warranty applies to gate repairs?

Gate repairs generally carry one year of workmanship coverage unless otherwise stated in writing. The two-year complimentary adjustment provision applies to new gates installed by DJ Fence & Gate.

What changes the cost of a gate project?

The opening size, material, frame, supports, operating method, site preparation, removal, operator, controls and related trade work can all affect the scope. A meaningful estimate separates those items.

Should vehicles and pedestrians use the same automatic entrance?

Discuss a separate pedestrian route during planning. A vehicle gate's movement and controls should not be treated as a general walking entrance.

What happens if power is lost?

That depends on the selected equipment and backup or manual-release provisions. Ask for the intended outage procedure to be explained and included with the system information.

Can you work on gates installed by another company?

We welcome repair and replacement inquiries. Send photos, the symptoms and safely accessible equipment identification so compatibility and the condition of retained parts can be assessed.
