Driveway Gates with DJ Fence & Gate
A driveway gate needs to work when it is opening, closing and waiting for a vehicle to pass. We review the approach, available space, ground clearance and the way the entrance connects to the fence before settling on a design.
Bring the vehicles that actually use the driveway into the conversation, including deliveries, trailers and service equipment. Swing and sliding arrangements require different space and support conditions; the best fit depends on the property rather than a photo alone.
If automation is part of the plan, discuss the operator, safety devices, controls and any supporting electrical work from the beginning. We can also review a manual gate or an existing entrance that needs repair.
The details that matter
Coordinate the gate and adjoining fence around the intended access and appearance.
Discuss daily operation, hardware, hold-open needs and usable ground clearance.
Review the complete gate system, including safety and control requirements.
Evaluate existing posts, hardware and gate condition before deciding what can be retained.
Compare the details
Start with the look you like, then compare privacy, access, care and the needs of your property.

Paired wood gates combine lower screening with an open lattice accent. Review leaf weight, hinges, support posts and safe operation as one coordinated installation.

Horizontal wood rails repeat the adjoining fence pattern inside a metal frame. Choose the opening width around the vehicles or equipment that need to pass through.

Paired ornamental leaves create a shaped entrance between columns. Confirm swing clearance, gate height and the support and operating requirements.

An open picket gate continues the metal fence design. Discuss latch access, clear opening, bottom clearance and a separate pedestrian route when needed.
A closer look
A swing gate needs room for the entire leaf to travel. A sliding gate needs a suitable path beside the opening; tracked and cantilever arrangements have different support and clearance needs. Measure the usable opening and the space around it, not just the gap between two posts.
For a driveway, show the approach, nearby parking and the vehicles that regularly use it. For a walk gate, include the path, steps, bins and mower access. The most attractive gate is not the right choice if it makes routine access difficult.
The leaf, frame, posts, hinges, latches and adjoining fence affect one another. A gate that drags may have a support problem rather than a latch problem. For replacement work, we assess what can stay before specifying a new leaf.
Wood, vinyl and open metal gates place different demands on the assembly. Wide and paired openings need their own details. Include finish, hardware, hold-open arrangements and the direction of travel in the agreed scope.
Automation adds an operator, controls, power arrangements and safety considerations. Tell us who needs access: residents, staff, visitors, deliveries or service teams. Keypads, remotes, readers and intercoms serve different needs and must be compatible with the selected system.
Discuss power availability, backup operation, manual release and work by other trades before installation. An existing manual gate is not automatically ready for an operator. Never bypass a safety device or keep cycling a gate that appears unsafe.
At handover, review normal operation, how to secure the opening and the care information supplied for the equipment. Keep the operator and control documentation where the property manager or owner can find it. Access credentials should not be sent through a public estimate form.
New gates have a two-year complimentary adjustment provision under the written warranty. That is not an unlimited warranty on materials or operators. Residential, repair and commercial workmanship classifications have different terms; confirm which applies to the agreed project.

A clear way forward
Tell us about cars, trailers, deliveries and any special access needs.
Provide photos from both sides, including the grade and space beside the opening.
Review the proposed gate type, finish, supports and operating method.
Confirm removal work, automation, related trade work and applicable warranty terms in the estimate.
We stand behind our work
Qualifying complete new residential installations are covered for as long as the original customer owns the property. Non-transferable. Material defects, natural wood changes, and other exclusions apply. Repairs and commercial work have separate terms.
Before we get started
Possibly. The gate, supporting structure, site and required safety devices must be evaluated before that can be confirmed.
It depends on available space, grade, opening width and how the entrance is used. We can discuss both against the site.
Yes. Share the symptoms and photos. Repairs are welcome without a commitment to replace the entire fence.
The written warranty provides a two-year adjustment period for qualifying new gates, with workmanship coverage depending on the project classification. Materials, operators and exclusions have separate terms; review the full warranty.
The opening size, material, frame, supports, operating method, site preparation, removal, operator, controls and related trade work can all affect the scope. A meaningful estimate separates those items.
Discuss a separate pedestrian route during planning. A vehicle gate's movement and controls should not be treated as a general walking entrance.
That depends on the selected equipment and backup or manual-release provisions. Ask for the intended outage procedure to be explained and included with the system information.
We welcome repair and replacement inquiries. Send photos, the symptoms and safely accessible equipment identification so compatibility and the condition of retained parts can be assessed.
